Wendy brings her passion for adventure travel, wildlife and nature, as well as her vast experience in the travel field, to her position as Vice President of Sales for Remote Lands. She has traveled to 93 countries and all seven continents, often with a focus on seeing endangered wildlife in its natural habitat and engaging local communities in dialogue about conservation and tourism.
Wendy comes to Remote Lands from the New York office of the Virtuoso luxury travel network, where as Director of Member Sales and Service she managed more than 60 member accounts specializing in luxury and adventure travel, developed new agency members for the Virtuoso network, escorted Virtuoso international educational trips, hosted open house, supplier and career events, and more.
Prior to her time at Virtuoso, Wendy was the Director of Sales Development for North America for Discovery World Cruises. In her more than 20 years in the industry, she has also worked for Silversea Cruises, Orient Lines, Air New Zealand, and Brendan Tours, and been recognized for achieving top sales in various positions throughout her career.
Wendy's favorite places in Asia include Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Japan, as well as Malaysian Borneo, where she experienced one of her best wildlife safaris. After driving for hours through a giant logging operation, she reached the oasis of the Danum Valley, where she had the great fortune to spot several orangutans in the wild. She was also thrilled by the opportunities for wildlife viewing and bird watching in the Kinabatangan River area, a region threatened by farming and deforestation.
Along with wildlife-oriented travel, Wendy enjoys adventurous activities including rock climbing, hiking, diving, spelunking, sky-diving, and kayaking. There is of course ample room in her travel portfolio dedicated to private-pool villas, gourmet dining and fine wine! She also is active with children's charities, is a court-appointed child advocate and has volunteered in crisis centers, a passion that aligns with Remote Lands' practice of "giving back" by supporting local charities in various communities we visit.
