The Road To Mandalay Cruise Ship

On August, 26 2009, the remodeled Road To Mandalay cruise ship is scheduled to recommence luxury river cruises in Myanmar (Burma). Five newly enlarged and refurbished cabin types are available, all of which feature a small personal safe, telephone, satellite television, en-suite bathroom and shower amenities: Governor's Cabin, State Cabin, Deluxe Cabin, Superior Cabin and Single Cabin. Cruises range in length – three, four, seven or 11 nights – and begin on either Wednesdays or Saturdays. The cruises take passengers along the idyllic Irrawaddy River, stopping at Mandalay, Bhamo, Bagan and Yangon, with possible extended stays in Yangon, the country’s economic center, the serene Inle Lake, where one can meet fisherman who use a unique one-legged method of rowing their boats and witness other traditional, authentic ways of life, and Ngapali, a beautiful palm-fringed resort town on the Bay of Bengal.

Yangzi Explorer

The Yangzi Explorer offers just 38 cabins and 24 suites and a level of comfort that was hitherto unavailable on China’s great Yangzi River. Cruise from Yichang to Chongqing (3 days) or Chongqing to Yichang (4 days) on the Yangzi River, the longest river in Asia. This particular stretch of the river has captivated artists for centuries; its beauty has been recorded time and again in verse and brush painting. In modern times, the Three Gorges has become renowned due to the controversial, monolithic Three Gorges Dam. The dam, slated to be the world’s largest hydro-electric power station, will be fully operational by 2011. The construction of the dam, which began in 1994, has resulted in the relocation of thousands, if not millions, of people who lived along the river, not to mention the destruction of precious cultural relics that once stood on the banks of the Yangzi. The region of the Three Gorges that you will see, however, remains much the same as it was in the olden days. You will be accompanied by expert guides on all of your land excursions and they will also be available on the boat for further discussion about this fascinating landscape and the many periods of Chinese history it has witnessed.
