Remote Lands Introduces Luxury Bespoke Journeys to Bali

Insider Access to Indonesia's Magnificent Shangri-la

(NEW YORK, NY, Dec. 12, 2006) - Discriminating travelers interested in visiting Bali, Asia's unparalleled tropical paradise, can do so in the most intimate and personalized of ways through Remote Lands, Inc., America's leader in Asian bespoke travel. The company is introducing the opportunity to experience Bali and its rich culture, friendly people, astonishing natural beauty and more than 20,000 temples and palaces through their extraordinary customized journeys. Remote Lands' tailor-made Bali journeys begin at $1,000 per person per day plus international airfare, and go up from there depending on private jet charters, helicopters, royal audiences, and personal staff including private chefs, concierges and other professionals.

Guests, who stay at the famed Amanresorts in luxurious villas with private swimming pools, are offered unprecedented insider access to remarkable people, private events and unique experiences. Remote Lands' elite/indigenous experience allows travelers to spend time with a well-balanced cross section of local society from monks to Maharajas, fisherman to financiers, and nomads to nobility. This stimulating personal interaction provides clients with a profound learning experience and a deeper understanding of Asian people, promoting peace and understanding between cultures.

Possible itinerary highlights include:

  • Take a helicopter over Bali's picturesque volcanoes, emerald rice terraces, sheer cliffs and pristine beaches to a remote village where your host is the family of a local farmer or fisherman. Visit their home, have lunch with them and participate in a private family ceremony or religious ritual, such as a wedding, a funeral (a joyous celebration where the dead person is released into the afterlife) or a tooth filing (to rid the body of the weaknesses: lust, greed, anger, drunkenness, confusion and jealousy).
  • Private dinner party with one of the Princes of Bali and his family and friends at their spectacular royal palace. Entertainment provided by a group of top Balinese dancers, with commentary and explanations by the Prince's wife, Bali's leading dance expert and author on the subject.
  • Go rice terrace trekking in the stunning mountains of Bangli with a famous and powerful local Priest who is full of fascinating stories about life in Bali. End the hike at his family compound where you cool off with a swim in his stunning natural spring water swimming pools. Participate in a Balinese cooking demonstration and sampling of a wide variety of Balinese delicacies, followed by a delicious lunch.
  • Suckling pig barbeque dinner in the home of a famous local Bali artist or celebrity, followed by a colorful Kecak dance (traditionally performed as an exorcism to promote peace and health within a village) and a Sanghyang fire dance performance (on hot coals, where the entranced dancer feels no pain). Go backstage beforehand and meet the dancers as they put on their makeup and prepare for their exciting performances.
  • Go white-water river rafting with a glamorous Balinese Princess, then have lunch in the private family compound and courtyards of her breathtakingly beautiful palace with her and her family.
  • Build traditional Balinese kites (which are absolutely massive at 30 feet long) at the royal palace of one of the other Princes of Bali, who is totally passionate about these kites. Private lunch with the Prince at his palace then go kite flying along the magnificent beach.

For travelers interested in other parts of Indonesia, Remote Lands can arrange bespoke journeys all over this culturally diverse country, including some of the best scuba diving sites in the world in Manado, and the wilds of West Papua where Stone Age tribal people and the world's last remaining cannibals still live. The company focuses entirely on luxury Asian travel, and can also plan customized travel throughout the Asian continent, including tailor-made journeys by chartered private jet.

In addition to Remote Lands' bespoke travel services, the Company's second line of business is its private jet journeys with celebrity speakers (on specified dates) on the themes of Cuisine & Culture, Art & Architecture, and Golf. The first such journey, slated for October 13-26th 2007, features best-selling authors Gael Greene and Simon Winchester, and focuses on Asian Cuisine & Culture.
